We offer free UK standard delivery on all orders over £75. For orders under £75, shipping is a flat £4.99. Every order is sent on a tracked courier service so you always know where your surf gear is.

We dispatch orders within 1–2 working days. Once posted, UK delivery typically takes a further 2–4 working days. During busy periods like summer and bank holidays it can occasionally take a little longer.

Right now we ship within the United Kingdom only, but we're working on adding more countries. If you're outside the UK and desperate for some Boards & Barefeet kit, email help@boardsandbarefeet.uk and we'll see what we can do.

If you created an account, sign in and open the My Account page to see the live status of every order. If you checked out as a guest, keep the confirmation email handy — your order number starts with 'BB-' — and we can look it up for you any time.

If your order hasn't been dispatched yet we can usually change or cancel it. Get in touch as quickly as possible with your order number via the help chat or help@boardsandbarefeet.uk and we'll do our best.

We offer 30-day returns. As long as the item is unused, in its original condition with any tags still attached, you can send it back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund to your original payment method.

Email help@boardsandbarefeet.uk with your order number and which item you'd like to return, and we'll send you simple return instructions. Please don't send anything back without contacting us first so we can track it properly.

We're really sorry if something's not right. Contact us with your order number and a photo of the issue and we'll sort a replacement or refund straight away, including any return postage.

We accept all major debit and credit cards including Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay for fast, one-tap checkout. Everything is processed securely through Stripe.

As a rough UK guide: a 3/2mm suit is ideal for summer (roughly June–September), a 4/3mm covers autumn and spring, and a 5/4mm hooded suit is best for cold winter water. In winter it's well worth adding boots, gloves and a hood to stay out longer.

The numbers are the neoprene thickness in millimetres — the first number is the thickness around your core (chest and back) and the second is the thickness on your arms and legs for flexibility. A 3/2mm is warmer-weather and stretchier; a 5/4mm is thicker and much warmer for cold winter surf.

A wetsuit should fit like a second skin — snug all over with no loose folds or gaps, especially around the lower back, where cold water flushes in. It should feel tight on land but comfortable once you're in the water. If you're between sizes, size down for a better seal.

Rinse it in cold fresh water after every surf, turn it inside out and dry it in the shade (never in direct sun or on a radiator), and store it on a wide hanger. Avoid hot water, washing machines and tumble dryers — they wreck the neoprene.

For most beginners a soft-top foamie around 7'0" to 8'0" is perfect. The high volume makes it stable and easy to paddle, so you'll catch far more waves and stand up sooner. Our 8'0" Soft-Top Foamie is a brilliant first board.

As a very rough starting point, beginners want plenty of volume — think close to your body weight in litres — while intermediate and advanced surfers ride lower-volume boards for manoeuvrability. If you're unsure, message us your height, weight and ability and we'll recommend a board.

Most modern shortboards use a three-fin thruster setup. Our boards and fins are FCS II compatible, which means the fins click straight in tool-free — no screws needed. A thruster setup gives a great balance of drive and control for all conditions.

Rinse off salt water after each surf, keep it out of direct sun and hot cars (heat delaminates boards), and use a board bag for transport and storage. Sort any dings quickly so water doesn't get into the foam.

Match your wax to the water temperature: tropical wax for warm seas, and cool or cold-water wax for UK conditions. Apply a base coat first, then a top coat of the temperature-appropriate wax for grippy, reliable traction.
